Privacy notice regarding the handling of personal data in connection with the Luonnontila web service

This privacy notice contains information in accordance with Articles 13 and 14 of the General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) of the European Parliament and Council, which must be provided to the data subject. This notice explains, among other things, how we collect, use, disclose, and store personal data at the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE).

Syke reserves the right to make technical changes to this privacy notice without prior notice to the registered persons.

Basis for Processing

We process personal data to perform a task carried out in the public interest (scientific research) and exercise the official authority vested in Syke (subparagraph 1(e) of Article 6 of the General Data Protection Regulation and paragraph 2, subsection 3 of section 4 of the Data Protection Act (1050/2018)).

Collected personal data and purposes of processing

The personal data collected are the email addresses of individuals participating in the development of the Luonnontila web service.

We use the personal data of individuals participating in the development of the site for the purposes of developing the Luonnontila service and organizing user testing.

Decisions based on automated processing, including profiling, are not made based on the collected personal data.

Sources of personal data

The data stored in the registry are provided by the registered individuals themselves to the administration of the Luonnontila online service. Currently, there are no online forms on the service that collect personal data.

Recipients of personal data

Access to the registered data is restricted to individuals involved in the development of the Luonnontila web service.

Personal data is not transferred or disclosed outside the EU or EEA.

Protection of personal data

The Finnish Environment Institute (Syke), as the data controller, has implemented necessary technical and organizational measures and also requires them from its service providers.

Retention of personal data

Personal data are retained for as long as necessary for Syke to fulfill the processing purposes described in this notice. Data are deleted immediately once their processing purpose ceases.

Your data protection rights

We aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the processing of personal data in the context of the built environment information system in this notice. If any part of our processing of personal data remains unclear, you may request clarification by contacting the contact person or the Syke data protection officer listed under Data Controller and Data Protection Officer.

You have the following rights under the data protection regulation

You have the right to know the purposes and means by which we process your personal data. If any part of our processing of your personal data remains unclear after this notice, you may request clarification from the individuals mentioned under Data Controller and Data Protection Officer.

If the personal data we process about you are incorrect, you may request us to correct inaccurate and incorrect data. If we correct data based on your request, we are obligated to inform all those to whom the data were previously disclosed, as far as possible.

Additionally, you have the right to object to the processing of your data at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.

As a data subject, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

The supervisory authority in Finland is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
